All Hail Baal, All hail Baal Go carve your wood, it won’t do no good When you call on Baal. You can shed your blood, pour it in the mud You can curse and wail, but to no avail, ‘cos there ain’t never gonna be no sign of Baal Elijah fought the priests of Baal To demonstrate God’s power On a crowded hill, a sacrifice Was placed upon the altar. Then Baal’s priests sang, And Baal’s priests danced To get their god to hear them They pierced their skin and cried their tears But still their god would not appear Elijah fought the priests of Baal To demonstrate God’s power On a crowded hill, a sacrifice Was placed upon the altar. Elijah showed his faith in God He drenched the whole with water Then gently spoke with our Holy Lord Who melted rock with a single word Lord on high, hear my cry Your servant calls, show to one and all You are Lord on high Show your mighty power, send a holy fire Cleanse away this sin, let a new dawn in Show these men of Baal that you are the Lord on high

What I say and what I do Is the face I present to you Everyday, talk with God Everyday bring my life to the Lord But inside I'm thinking I wonder why I never hear If God is listening Why does an answer not appear? I need some help I need a tangible sign A tiny indication that'll ease my mind I'm not asking for a burning bush A parting of the waves or a snake made from wood But now and then Lord, I need to know that you care And now and then Lord, I need to know you're really there. Lord send a sign, something I can see Stop playing games and just talk to me I'm not good at signs and hints and clues And I can't really say I've ever heard from you I tell my friends that the right thing to do Is go to church on Sunday and listen for you To open hearts and open their minds Salvation and forgiveness is theirs to find But inside I'm thinking I wonder if they ever hear Are their prayers answered or do they disappear into the atmosphere? Lord send a sign something I can touch I want to believe in you so much I want a conversation with you Lord But I'm not really sure I've ever heard your word
3.
I have heard your every prayer Son of Man why do you despair of me? I've always been here for you. Why complain that I'm not around? There are things that you will not understand But you're safe in the palm of my hand. Where were you When I put the sun and stars in the sky? Where were you When I made the seas and mountains so high? Where were you When I formed the universe at the start? Where were you, Son of Man You were living in my heart. I can see what you're trying to do Comprehend everything in my plan for you But the plan is too big for you. Long ago there were things put in place Wheels in wheels in time and space that you won't accept except through your faith. I made you to be just like me Able to move mountains with the faith of a seed Right now, today, you don't seem to believe But have faith in my perfect plan Cos there's a place for you Son of Man Don't despair when things don't go right Just because there appears no end in sight You can't expect to know what I know You are part of a greater whole Isn't it enough that I considered you at all? Son of Man, be content with your world Where were you When I gave you all the beasts of the land? Where were you When all the world was yours to command? Where were you When I trusted you to walk in My ways? Son of Man, never doubt, I'll love you always.

There’s a man at the back and he stands on his own There's something about him, he looks quite at home He knows all the songs and he knows what to do Like he’s been around churches before The man at the back lifts his arms in the air And sings ‘Hallelujah’ with everyone there "Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, praise my father on high!" There’s strength in His words and there’s fire in His eyes. For 2000 years His return has been planned Have we made the world better? Is there peace in His land? If Jesus was already here among men Would He think that he'd have to start over again? It seems we've forgot that the Lord will return And we're waiting for heavenly fires to burn And fanfares of trumpets and angels on high And the Lord to appear blazing high in the sky But a man at the back’s not believed in his home So no-one talks to Him, he's left on his own Does he have any teaching or words he could say? Nobody asks him and he goes on his way. The man at the back comes like the master at night But He’s never expected have we kept the lights bright? The last time our Lord came a babe in a shack This time the Lord could be that man at the back. For 2000 years His return has been planned Could we hold our heads up? Is there love in His land? Or is it just more of the same things again A world still divided when left up to men?

Who you see before you is a man who's badly broken But I'm not innocent I'm ready to accept my share of blame, I hope you understand that my feelings are well hidden I readily show anger and I easily feel shame, I feel shame. I'm not trying to make excuses but I've come to realise that the man who stands inside me sometimes he shows no refrain, I can't travel back in time and pretend these troubles are not mine but the truth is that they haunt me all the time. They haunt me all the time. I know that you can see just who I am behind my eyes I know that you can see through my disguise I'm naked and exposed my life's broken and diseased But You call my name and I fall down to my knees, I fall down to my knees. As I look at my confusion I am drawn to the conclusion I'm defined by things I'm trying not to do I'm informed by my excesses, impulsivity caresses at the edges of my dull and troubled mind my dull and troubled mind. Don't mistake my look of meekness as a sign of inner weakness I am strong in ways that cannot be defined I have no life without you, my existence here is hollow on the calendar I'm marking off the time, Marking off the time. I know that you can see just who I am behind my eyes I know that you can see through my disguise I'm naked and exposed my life's broken and diseased But You call my name and I fall down to my knees, I fall down to my knees.

When you believe in somebody When you delight in the things that they say If your world turns around them And you're lost if they turn away If your heart skips a beat and you warm to the sound of their voice And if time stands still when you're with them Then you can rejoice That's the way God feels about you. VERSE 2 When you're close to somebody And you've cherished them all of their life Every day's an adventure Watching them just be alive And you stand by them Even when they let you down And the choices they make Means they're not always around That's the way God feels about you You've been there forever to see How they'd turn out, what they would be Whatever they did you will always be Standing right beside them That's the way God feels about you When you're life's filled with someone When you can't get them out of your mind And you want to be near them But they just want to leave you behind So you stand by them Even when they turn away And the harder you try Pushes them further away That's the way God feels about you

What would you say, what would you do if the stories in the gospels were true? How would you treat the ones you love Knowing you're adored from above? 'Cos we're told to love our saviour This we’re commanded to do But our lives demand attention What if the gospels are true? would your life change, would you be calm Knowing that eternity's to come? Would you be kind and smile more Knowing what God has in store? 'Cos we're told to love our neighbour This we’re commanded to do When our lives crowd in around us Yet what if the gospels are true? It’s easy to see how we get to where we are Everyone demands a piece of you There’s no straight and narrow if you keep looking back But imagine if the Word was meant for you The world would be a better place Living life according to God's grace A better life for me and you Accepting the Good News to be true. 'Cos we're told to love our saviour This we’re commanded to do But our lives demand attention What if the gospels are true?

I was reading my red letters I was studying Good News When I came across some verses that did not reflect my views So I skipped ahead until I found some verses to my taste and missed out all the words that I considered just a waste. CHORUS I believe in the Holy Word Handed down by our sovereign Lord The old and the new as a song to be heard as an anthem for all of the world. But some verses go against my views and challenge my very nature and leave me confused so I don't read verses if I don't agree Instead I read the gospel according to me I was sitting with my church friends we were praising God in song When the preacher started speaking and they thought something was wrong cos she said she'd based her talk on verses 6 and 23 but straightaway I knew she read her bible just like me I was taking part in home group and the topic of the day was the abomination you would be if adulterous or gay but we never followed on to read the verses where it says you should be cast out from your home town or stoned to death instead. CHORUS Instead I read the gospel according to me I only read the gospel where God and I agree I like to think that God wrote the bible for me

Who do you worship when you're all alone An idol on TV, an app on your phone? Is the sabbath kept holy, do you swear in God's name Do you even notice if it's taken in vain? But you do things for others, help out where you can Try to be nice, be a very nice man Seldom get angry, take people to church Help with the needy, the hungry, the hurt There's very few people who have taken a life There's a lot more who have slept with another man's wife And stealing from work, cos you think they don't mind Is considered a sin and it's marked down as a crime Then there's lying and cheating, God sees it, and worse, When you get too much change and put it straight in your purse It's such a small thing, happens all of the time But it's considered a sin and marked down as a crime But you're kinder than most doing things that you should Can you get into heaven by just being good? Cos a Christian is more than just kindness to men How many marks do you score out of ten? If your life's fixed on just keeping up with the Jones Jealous of everything everyone owns And you'd honour your parents if you just had the time These things are a sin, they're marked down as a crime

You can't be a Christian lying in the sun Waiting for the world to come to you You can't a follower being number one 'cos God's gotta lotta work for you to do Jesus didn't stay in the temple He preached on the hills and the plains He preached from the shores of Galilee and stilled the winds and the rains We are the arms and legs of God We are the hands and feet But it ain't no use if you're sat in a chair Drinkin' a beer or doing your hair Glued to a soap on a TV screen Shooting up baddies on a PC game 'cos God's gotta lotta work for you to do. You can't be a Christian sitting in your house Waitin' for your neighbours to come to you You can't be a follower hidin' like a mouse 'Cos God's gotta a lotta work for you to do. Jesus didn't stay in his hometown He took God's word outside He healed the sick and fed the poor And even saved some who'd died. We are the eyes and ears of God We are the mouth and voice But it ain't no use if we don't go out No-one's gonna hear if we don't speak out The body of Christ will get lazy and fat If we don't get about, if we just stay sat 'cos God's gotta lot of work for us to do. Oh... You can't be a Christian sitting in your church Waiting for the world to come to you You can't be a follower sitting in your pew 'cos God's gotta lotta work for you to do Jesus didn't lie in his bed ‘til noon sleeping the day away He was up and out telling people all about It was them he'd come to save. We are the heart and lungs of God We are a communion of saints and we are filled with the spirit of God and being a Christian ain't...for the faint....hearted 'Cos God's always got a lotta work for us to do...
